To support a planning submission for a new teaching block at its Pencoed Campus, Bridgend College has appointed the practice to provide ecological, arboricultural and landscape design services within a design team led by Rio Architects and Savills. Soltys Brewster will complete baseline surveys to inform the design, an assessment under BREEAM and prepare the necessary designs and reports for the planning application to Bridgend CBC. The project adds to Soltys Brewster's extensive portfolio of education projects including Universities, Colleges, Secondary Schools, Primary Schools and Super School campuses.
The practice has been appointed as part of the project team responsible for the development of a new multipurpose building, a new sleeping block, new reception, arrival and information hub, office and staff facilities and associated external spaces to provide a new 'heart' to this unique and historic residential education centre in West Wales. Led by Purcell Architects with engineers Mann Williams, the team are developing design solutions that strengthen identity, improve circulation and optimise the use of existing buildings and spaces.
