Cardiff City Council has approved outline proposals for this milestone settlement expansion on greenfield land. This strategic site comprises up to 1,500 new homes, associated employment and rapid transit hub. On behalf of Persimmon Homes, Soltys Brewster coordinated Green Infrastructure masterplanning, and combined Landscape, Ecology and Arboricultural services from initial survey work to final Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), LVIA and EcIA. Working alongside Savills, Barton Willmore, Vectos and WSP, innovative landscape and ecological mitigation design was required to deliver a scheme which maximises the multi-functional benefits of the site’s Green Infrastructure assets.
The practice is pleased to have been part of the Darnton B3 team who have successfully secured the detailed design and construction phases of the Taff Vale Redevelopment project, an important town centre site adjacent to the iconic 1750’s ‘Old Bridge’. This riverside redevelopment, at the heart of Pontypridd, is proposed to have three new buildings, (council and commercial offices and community facilities) and riverside public realm linking Taff Street with the river edge and with future linkage opportunities across the Taff to Ynysangharad Park as a major recreational park. The practice will be providing public realm design services, along with ecological consultancy support.
The practice has been appointed by Historic Royal Palaces to the Hillsborough Castle landscape designer framework. The framework will see the implementation of measures to restore the historic landscape and enhance Hillsborough Castle Gardens as a visitor attraction. This appointment recognises the expertise within the practice in research, assessment, design and management of historic landscapes across the UK. We also provide specialist advice to Historic Environment Division in Belfast via an existing framework.
